Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. Genesis 3:1(a)
As a child of God, I am loved beyond measure by the One who made me in His image. If Jesus resides in your heart through faith and belief in His atoning sacrifice on the cross for your sins, you too are a child of God and loved beyond measure. As deeply as you and I are loved by our heavenly Father, we are also equally hated by the father of lies: Satan.
As long as we have breath in our lungs and walk this earth, we will be covered by the blood of Jesus while walking in the crosshairs of Satan.
Jesus seeks the lost that He may give them life; Satan seeks the found that he may attempt to destroy them.
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10
As God’s children, we can never be taken out of our Father’s hand… [And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one. John 10:28-30] …but we can be attacked.
The book of Job gives us a glimpse into the cold and ruthless heart of Satan. Under God’s restraining hand, Satan attacked and destroyed Job’s family, his land, his animals, his servants, his possessions, and his health. The utter magnitude and scope of Job’s losses is unimaginable. But Job belonged to God, not Satan, and having gone through this incredible fiery trial, Job gained a deeper relationship with God as stated by his words: “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.” Job 42:5 The Lord did not leave Job destitute in the aftermath of his attack. He restored to Job double of all he had. Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.. Job 42:12
Hopefully neither you nor I will ever have to face an attack of the enemy the likes of Job’s but nevertheless, we have and will experience his ruthless attacks.
Satan is cunning and knows just where to strike. Our mind/thoughts are his favorite target. He knows that if he can lob enough of an onslaught of fiery darts our way, they are bound to hit their mark with the intent to cause damage. And sometimes, Satan’s attack does indeed leave its mark. In the wake of an attack, we can be left sitting in the rubble of shame, guilt, and the lie that we have failed God. But God in His love and mercy for us takes us by the hand and lifts us up.
You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. Psalm 118:13-14
The enemy accuses, but Christ is for us.
The enemy attacks, but Christ gives us victory.
The enemy steals, but Christ restores.
As a child of God, you are eternally secure in Christ Jesus no matter; When the Enemy Attacks.
Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written : “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:33-39
