I was looking through some of my old journals the other day. Moments in time, marked on paper, of heartfelt cries to the Lord as well as gracious words of hope and encouragement from His heart to mine.
I came across a couple of my entries that stood out. They were entries regarding our dwindling finances at the time. Over the years, as a family of five, we had gone through seasons where our finances were at times extremely tight (even non-existent one day!) but the Lord always provided.
One of those extreme seasons was back in 2013, and as you can see from the picture above, the Lord’s faithfulness had inspired me to create a memorial stone, a tangible reminder that He hears our prayers. Going through and re-reading these particular entries, I couldn’t help but smile. I smiled at recalling God’s goodness and faithfulness as well as His perfect way of stretching my faith in order for it to grow in Him.
The-LORD-Will-Provide is one of the beautiful names of God. It is the English translation of the Hebrew words: YHWH and Yireh and is found in Genesis 22:14
And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD, it shall be provided.”
Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, Isaac, to the Lord, but the Lord intervened and provided a ram in Isaac’s stead.
YHWH is the Divine Name of God as revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14
And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ “
God was calling Moses to be the one to deliver the people of Israel out of Egypt. Moses felt incapable for such a momentous task and was afraid the people wouldn’t listen to him. This is when God reveals WHO He is to Moses: I AM.
Stop for a moment and let God’s Divine Name, I AM, sink in.
Those two words speak unending volume of who God is.
God IS. He is I AM.
I AM… Comforter.
I AM… Protector.
I AM… Healer.
I AM… Steadfast and Immovable.
I AM… Salvation.
I AM… Life.
While I do not know what difficulties or faith stretching circumstances you are facing today, I do know that the Lord will provide because He is I AM. Even if the hard remains, and you wonder where God is in this; I AM is with you.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
